Hugs for Hailey Ornaments are Coming Soon!!!

We had a lot of fun decorating our own Hugs for Hailey ornaments and when I asked Hailey what other ornaments she wanted for our tree the ones she picked were all Disney related. Go figure, my Disney girl!

It's not too early to start thinking about Christmas is it?

We will be posting our Hugs for Hailey ornaments in our Etsy shop probably starting in October. Be sure to keep an eye out. If you have any ideas you'd be interested in purchasing from us please let us know. Custom orders are a lot of fun!

Here are some of the ideas Hailey and I came up with for our tree!
 Monogram Disney Castle Ornament.

One of our favorite characters is Jack Skellington!

I love this idea of a Santa Cam to make sure that Hailey stays on the nice list! Santa is watching!

Who doesn't want the Mouse himself on the tree!?

In June Hailey went to Summer Camp

Hailey being able to go to summer camp isn't something that we thought that Hailey would be able to participate in. There is a camp just for children with heart conditions here where we live and Hailey was able to go! Hailey is too medically fragile to be able to attend by herself independently so we decided to all go for the day as a family. It was so much fun and we all loved every minute!

Here are some highlights of what we did at Camp Mend a Heart!

Hailey was able to do the rock climbing wall with some help from her dad. Good thing he is tall and could help her go pretty high. She loved it!

If you know Hailey you know she LOVES arts and crafts! The kids made rain sticks and collected autographs. We even found another little girl that was going to be getting a pacemaker the week after. Hailey quickly made lots of friends.

Archery was next on our activity list and even though this was an extremely difficult task, Hailey still tried her best and had so much fun!

They had a private lake where all the kids were able to test out their skills at using a canoe. Hailey could have stayed out on the water for hours.

We let her stay out as long as the sun was hidden by cloud cover. It was about 20 degrees cooler at camp, but when it's 120* in Las Vegas 20 degrees less is still HOT!

The scenery was incredible! The camp was very prepared and while Hailey was there she was able to use the golf carts to get to the different activities and we even had to visit the nurses tent to cool off with a popsicle and gatorade for a bit.

It was such a treat for us to be able to have Hailey experience this.

So many fun activities for the kids!

This opportunity was given to these children free of charge through fundraising and donations. Thank you to Camp Mend a Heart for inviting Hailey to camp!

In May Hailey had a birthday.

If you saw in earlier posts for Hailey's 9th birthday she picked a TROLLS theme party! It was nearly impossible to find Trolls birthday supplies, but with some help from Pinterest we figured it out!

Hailey was able to take cupcakes to school on her birthday and all the kids were thrilled when the Trolls cupcakes arrived!

Hailey's grandma works at M&M world and had some M&M's personalized for Hailey. This was a huge hit! Such a fun idea and totally worth it if you can use someone's employee discount! LOL!

Hailey had mentioned that she wanted to see her name in balloons and when she came home from school, that is what she saw! So fun!

Every party is a lot more fun with balloons right?

I received the most thoughtful text message from our friends at Raising Canes! They invited our whole family to come down for Hailey's birthday. They even had gifts and a cake for Hailey. So fun that all the employees sang to her. Love the Raising Canes family that we have. They really love Hailey SO much!!

For Hailey's actual party the next day we had a lot to do starting very early in the morning and even before that. I always apply for an Icing Smiles Cake and this year when I did they had told me the rules have changed and I'll just paraphrase " there are a lot more hoops to jump through when applying." I did end up getting all the proof and paper work needed just in time for us to be granted a cake. Look how wonderful it turned out!! Thank you to Nancy's Sweets and Treats for donating this cake!

We needed somewhere to have the party but we couldn't afford an outrageous priced place. We tried Dave and Busters but it was SO expensive and there was no offer for any discounts from them. We knew Hailey wanted a pizza party so we ended up at Peter Piper Pizza. Everyone there was terrific and we were able to have the party there without having to pay a price per person since I did all the decorating myself. It was the perfect place!

When Hailey arrived to see her party she was beyond thrilled. Each child that passed by us would ask if they could be a part of our party. Even the staff had said that our party was one of the more extravagant ones they had seen!

Like I said, lots of help from Pinterst and Target!

I was so glad I could put this party together for Hailey even after my radiation therapy treatment. I was in pain and exhausted but I wanted her to have the best party!

More M&Ms!!

Thank you to everyone who sent gifts to Hailey off of her Amazon wish list! We love that you love Hailey!

One of the gifts that Hailey was so excited for was LEGOs! Who knew that Hailey would love LEGOs so much! We had many family nights helping her build and play with Legos!

Thank you to everyone who has bought an "I'm Awesome" shirt so far. We have a few more days until we will see if we reached our print minimum. If we reach 24 sold items then we will be able to print and mail out our shirts. If you like to see what we have available for sale you can check the shirts out HERE.

We also have a coupon code for our Etsy shop. Use code SUMMER25 for 25% off your purchase of $5 or more for 1 week only!

April Happenings. Oh my! What a month!!

Time to talk about April even though I know we are in June. Read on and you will cut me some slack. It's been Crazy!!

The month of April didn't start off too bad. Hailey went to horse therapy and had been doing great!

We were able to celebrate Easter and Hailey's Aunt got her this cool Easter shadow egg. Hailey would look inside every time she passed by the egg. It was so neat!

We did go to a few Easter Egg hunts but Hailey started to not feel to well. It was spring break and she just seemed like she wasn't feeling to well. No fever, but she just got worse and worse.

She did start throwing up and not holding anything down so we ended up in the emergency room! She was ataxic and due to disease progression she was becoming lethargic and dehydrated.

We discovered she also had strep throat and a bladder infection. She was given antibiotics and was doing fine until...

We discovered that she was allergic to her anti biotic! We did go to her pediatrician and we now have to add allergic to amoxicillin to her charts...

Everything cleared up pretty quick and Hailey was back to normal. Which was great because we always have fun things planned for her!
She attended a dinner for the Make a Wish volunteers and she had a ton of fun.

We were also invited to Bonnie Springs where they were raising money to be donated to Make a Wish. It was put together by another wish kid that is someone very close to Hailey. We had so much fun!
There was so much to see! We loved the animals and the train rides!

Then this happened....
Hailey's mom was diagnosed with Graves Disease or a Hyper Thyroid and needed to undergo radiation therapy. She was also going to be in restricted isolation for 3 days and then modified isolation for 2 days after that. Hailey's grandparents flew down and Hailey was able to face time with mom. It was pretty odd not being able to be with Hailey when that's all Hailey's mom did. She took care of Hailey 24/7. Being in isolation meant NO contact, No sharing bathrooms, beds, towels, linens. No touching food or plates or utensils. Throwing everything touched into a garbage bag and holding the garbage for 6 weeks.
After isolation was over Hailey's mom developed thyroiditis and needed to be put on steroids. Then now that we are 7 weeks after radiation we receive our bill which is HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of dollars. Hailey's mom set up a booster to try and help raise money to pay that bill. You can see the booster HERE if you are interested in helping.

That was April. Now on to May...
